Smithville JH Band Calendar 2009 – 2010

Fall Semester

Aug. 25     First Day of School

 

Sept. ?     Pep Rally - TBA** (drumline only)

 

Sept. 17     Fundraiser Begins (fundraiser order forms and money due Oct. 1 st)

 

Oct. 1       Fundraiser forms and money due

 

Oct. 1     Pep Rally** (All 7 th &8 th grade band members ~ band t-shirt, blue          

       jeans, tennis shoes) Also, make sure you have a flip folder and lyre.

 

Oct. 15     Pep Rally** (All 7 th &8 th grade band members ~ band t-shirt, blue          

       jeans, tennis shoes) Also, make sure you have a flip folder and lyre.

 

Oct. 29     Pep Rally** (All 7 th &8 th grade band members ~ band t-shirt, blue          

       jeans, tennis shoes) Also, make sure you have a flip folder and lyre.

 

Oct. 30     8 th Graders** invited to perform in the stands with high school band.

       Wear pep rally uniform. (this date changed from the original calendar!)

 

Nov. 14     ATSSB M.S. Region Band Auditions** –

       Taylor Middle School - $8 per entry

       (students will learn music for a grade in class – students are highly encouraged to          

       enter the contest, but not required)

      

Nov. 20-21     ATSSB M.S. Region Clinic/Concert** – Hutto HS

         Friday–6:30–9:00p.m.

         Saturday–9:00a.m.–11:30a.m.

         Saturday–1:30–4:00p.m.

         Concert Begins at 7:00p.m.

 

Dec. 10     6 th Graders perform for 5 th grade (during school) – nice dress clothes

 

Dec. 10     HS/JH Band Holiday Concert – JH Cafetorium – 7p.m.

       6 th, 7 th and 8 th grade band members

       (6 th – nice dress clothes; 7 th & 8 th concert uniform)

       Co-curricular event – all students are required to attend regardless of eligibility.

 

 

**- these events require academic eligibility (passing all classes)

 

All band events are a required part of the student’s grade unless noted above

Spring Semester

 

Feb. 1       J.H. Band After-School Sectionals Begin (7 th & 8 th grade)

 

Feb. 25     J.H. Pre-UIL Concert** – Cafetorium – 7p.m.

       (7 th & 8 th grade – concert uniform)

 

March 10   UIL Band C/CC Jr. High Band Concert &

   Sight-reading Contest** @ Taylor High School

   (Concert and Symphonic Bands 7-8 gr – concert uniform)

  

March 24, 25, 26   Blinn Concert Festival**– Brenham, TX

       (Concert and Symphonic Bands 7-8 gr – concert uniform)       

  

May 4     J.H./M.S. Solo & Ensemble**– 4 pm - Smithville HS

       (6 th, 7 th & 8 th grade – nice dress clothes)

       (students will learn music for a grade in class – students are highly encouraged to          

       enter the contest, but not required)

 

May 11   Brown Primary Performance** (during school) – Symphonic Band

       (pep rally uniform)

 

May 13     J.H. & 6 th Grade Spring Concert – Cafetorium – 7p.m.

       (6 th, 7 th & 8 th grade – nice dress clothes)

       Co-curricular event – all students are required to attend regardless of eligibility.

 

May 21     Spring Trip to Schlitterbahn*** – New Braunfels, TX - All Day

       ***REWARD TRIP*** for;

           1   good behavior (no more than 4 strikes on behavior                

             chart and NO referrals to the office from band)

           2   100% attendance at extra rehearsals and performances

           3   Academically eligible for all performances                

           4   Academically eligible at the time of the trip
